Product Description |
From the original bamboo cutting board company, Totally Bamboo, this cutting board is a beautiful, functional, ecologically sound addition to any kitchen. Bamboo is 16% harder than maple, making it an excellent cutting surface. Bamboo is actually a grass that grows to a harvestable height of 60 feet in about 3 to 5 years, growing as much as 2 feet per day. It has an extensive root system that continually sends up new shoots, naturally replenishing itself. It does not require replanting, making it one of the most renewable resources known. Totally Bamboo uses 'Moso' timber bamboo which is neither a food source nor a habitat for the Giant Panda. Totally Bamboo's cutting boards are assembled with approved food-grade glue -- none of their products are made with formaldehyde-based glue. No dyes or stains are used in the manufacturing process. The pleasing designs are created by combining originally-colored bamboo with steamed bamboo, which darkens due to caramellized sugars within the wood. Totally Bamboo prides itself on using only premium hand-selected bamboo, innovative design, exemplary craftmanship, and fair labor policies.

Premium, practical, good looking cutting surface

This is an excellent product. Love the large design with recessed perimiter for catching meat juices, etc. Big enough for prime rib, turkey and chicken carving. Great looking, easy on knives and will last a long time. It looks so good you'll have a hard time cutting on it the first time. It's worth the money and would make a great gift. I love it.
Nice for a few months.

After a few months one of the 'raw bamboo' end pieces warped and started to separate from the 'steamed bamboo' body. Now it wobbles on the counter unless I put a towel under it. The grooved edge seemed like it would be convenient but all it seems to do is make the board harder to wipe clean. On the plus side, the surface has held up very well. I will probably replace it with a flat, solid bamboo board.

The finish on this board is great; very smooth and no jagged edges or splinters. Also looks great and is great for blade edges. You can use the flat side for dry cutting and the grooved side for anything juicy.

Beautiful Everyday Board

I purchased this board for my Mother as a present. I am a chef and a great fan of wood cutting boards, as they are faster and safer to cut on, as well as better for the knife's edge and beautiful. I use a huge wooden board at home, but most will not tolerate such a big ugly thing in their kitchen. This board is large enough for real cooking, but small and attractive enough to be left out for immediate use. The fact that it is made of sustainable managed growth bamboo makes it that much better. A highly recommended product.

I bought mine at a local store. I am pleased that I was able to handle this prior to buying. I passed it up on Amazon many tmes.
This is a well made board. It is a pleasure to cut on. I keep my knives sharp and this cutting board accentuates my VERY cool kitchen kutlery quite well.
I wash it off with a swipe of water and a cloth.
I, on irregular occasions, treat the wood with jojoba oil.
Keeps looking good and performs well.
I'd get one as a gift for a loved one.

By 'cutter', I mean something to cut things on. Anyway, this cutting board is what gets the job done. And it looks real nice in my kitchen, as it would in just about any kitchen as well, I imagine. The bamboo is a great idea, and delivers the cutting board that you need! Hey...if I were a person reading this review...I think I would buy it! Don't you?
A quality product

Beautiful looking cutting board. Heavy compared to my old boards but I think that's the bamboo construction. If I had one complaint, it's a little smaller than I probably should have gotten (for heavy duty cooks who have a lot going on at the same time on their cutting board).
