nice, high-maintenance towels

Review Date: August 24, 2010
Reviewer: Jen,
I have owned these towels (in white, which is actually more of a cream colour than a true white) for over six months. While fairly pricey, I'm willing to pay more for household items that are going to be used on a daily basis.

The size of these towels (I got the 'bath towel' size) is adequate for someone who likes a larger sized towel. After having these, I think the 'bath sheet' size would've been much too large.

Before purchasing, I'd read other reviews that said these towels were heavy and took a long time to dry. It's true - they are heavy, but not so heavy that they're unpleasant to use. Washing, however, is another story. They take up so much room that in my apartment-sized washer, I can only fit a maximum of four bath towels. When dried at a low heat setting as directed, that small load of four towels took several hours to dry, which, despite the quality, seemed like more of a pain than it was worth. As a result,, I started drying them on a higher heat level than directed, and I think I may have ruined them - they don't seem nearly as soft as they did when they arrived, however now they 'only' take around two hours to dry.

To combat the lack of softness, I started using fabric softener in the wash, which has helped. While they still don't feel as nice as they did when I got them, I'm still excited to go home and use them after using scratchy hotel towels. I like them more than I like any other towels I come in contact with, but I think I would've rather bought more lightweight towels that don't have the maintenance issues these towels do. Maybe in the future if I have a larger washer and dryer, I'll buy new ones and give them another shot - if it didn't take me so long to dry them on a low heat, maybe I'd do so and they'd be as soft as they were when I got them.

These wash cloths are the softest yet. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking for a better than average wash cloth made of the best materials possible.
Hand towel looks good but does not dry well

These hand towels look and feel beautiful, and wash well. However, in daily use they do not dry out, so one is drying ones hands on a damp towel! I would only recommend this product for a guest bathroom that is very infrequently used.
Incredibly beautiful, soft and absorbent

These towels, which I got in Lagoon, are gorgeous. They glow on my towel racks. They are unbelievably absorbent: touched to the skin, you are dry. And they are silky soft without feeling slimy the way microfleece can. I have to say that laundering has been no problem either: they needed no extra drying to come out fluffy, even softer, and eager to drink up water.

Buy these, they are fantastic quality.
Wonderful Towels!

These towels are wonderful! Exceptional quality towels and incredibly soft. These towels are so nice, they do not shrink at the sewn band like most towels do and stay so soft.
Softness you've never felt before !!!

I ordered this towel just to reach a certain price range for free shipping, and when I received it I was pleasantly surprised!! This towel is sooo soft and absorbent it is unbelievable! I have never owned a towel so soft before. I wished that I had known how nice they were before I ordered it so I could have ordered more. I am going to order more now that I know how nice they are!! I recommend this towel to anyone. My children even asked where I got such a soft, nice towel!!
Nothing Else Will Do

After using these towels, I can't buy any others. These are soft, durable, lovely colors and hold up extremely well with washing. Wonderful product.

I read the other reviews on these towels carefully so did expect some issues with them. I was concerned that they would pick. In fact, I do have some issues with picking. I decided they were very nice towels anyway. The color was gorgeous. I plan to use them in a guest bathroom which should work perfectly since they will have moderate wear. I am very happy with them given the price and the towel quality.
LOVE IT!!

Clammy, cold, and heavy

I had heard good things about the quality of the Pinzon brand, and was excited to replace some of our rattier towels with something thicker and softer. The towels are beautiful (I bought espresso brown), and I haven't had any issues with durability. The real problem is they just don't work as well as the older, rattier towels.

As mentioned in other reviews, the towels never seem warm to the touch, and never feel completely dry. Maybe that's just a perception issue, as the towels are extremely soft, even after repeated washings. However, it is disconcerting to hop out of a nice hot shower and feel as if you're drying off with a towel someone else just used.

To top it all off, the towels are very heavy. I'm a woodworker, and as such am used to hauling around fairly heavy pieces of wood. Nevertheless, the towels feel extremely heavy - about as much as a normal towel would weigh if it was full of water. The super smoothness of the material combined with the weight make it feel like it's constantly trying to pull itself out of your hands.

The towels do seem to do a better job at resisting mildew, managing to stay fresh smelling after several days of use. In the end though, I bought two towels that will likely be re-purposed as bathroom decor. I'm going back to plain old cotton.
