FROM THE PIONEER OF ECO-CONSCIOUS LIVING
A committed environmentalist for more than thirty years, Ed Begley, Jr., has always tried to “live simply so others may simply live.” Now, as more and more of us are looking for ways to reduce our impact on the planet and live a better, greener life, Ed shares his experiences on what works, what doesn't–and what will save you money!
These are tips for environmentally friendly living that anyone–whether you own or rent, live in a private home or a condo–can try to make a positive change for the environment. From quick fixes to bigger commitments and long-term strategies, Ed will help you make changes in every part of your life.
And if you think living green has to mean compromising on aesthetics or comfort, fear not; Ed's wife, Rachelle, insists on style–with a conscience. In Living Like Ed, his environmentalism and her design savvy combine to create a guide to going green that keeps the chic in eco-chic.
From recycling more materials than you ever thought possible to composting without raising a stink to buying an electric car, Living Like Ed is packed with ideas–from obvious to ingenious–that will help you live green, live responsibly, live well. Like Ed. |

I Like "Living Like Ed"

Living Like Ed" is a highly readable, informative, and at times amusing account of how the well-known, eco-conscious actor has established a green lifestyle. His book contains a lot of practical ideas for living green and saving energy. Some suggestions are easy and will save you money as well, such as reusing, recycling, and reducing wasteful energy and water use. Others will cost you some money and will not be universally worthwhile, such as installing solar panels or buying an electric or hybrid vehicle. One thing about Ed Begley, Jr.: he really practices what he preaches. He was living green long before green living was in the public consciousness. Especially enjoyable are the sidebars in which Ed's wife Rachelle gives her thoughts and comments on what it is like to Live Like Ed. Overall, I highly recommend this book. It both informs and entertains.

| I watch his show and enjoy it. The book is an extension of his show. He talks in more detail about how he lives an Eco-Friendly life. I found it informative and realized that the single biggest thing I could do - is more recycling, which I have. I actually used his Ask Ed website to learn more about what to do with more difficult stuff and got an immediate response. The book made me think more about my impact on the world and gave me ideas on what to do. Ed isn't pushy about his agenda - he tries to educate us to go better, which everyone wants to but may not know how. I recommend this book. |

| The "green" movement has gone from being what was considered a fringe movement to a seminal and central cultural concern, and one that possibly will change the face of America. Ed Begley, Jr. is a passionate advocate for the environment and helps the average person translate intention into deeds in this well organized guide. Some people may find the passion level a little too intense - I take it as a stamp of authenticity for the suggestions provided. I think the message the average reader can take away from this: any step you take - no matter how small - is a step in the right direction for all of us. Think of this as a wonderful buffet - take just what you want and be satisified. |

| Ed gives a lot of great pointers and a ton of supporting evidence but not techy. Great information and very entertaining. His wife Rachelle even gives feedback about what its like trying to live with someone who is so forward thinking and always trying to live better but he sometimes does it at the expense of luxury and fashion, but his wife talks about how it is manageable to be green and be fashionable and chic. |
Great Book. Notes From The Show

| I live in the Pacific Northwest. We are already pretty green over here; evergreen you might say!(woo...bad joke). When I heard about E.B.J's show about a month ago, I was thrilled. I have enjoyed his work from St. Elsewhere to Pineapple Express.(though I might be a bit slow on the uptake. Living With Ed was broadcast originally in 2007) I knew he was a green-man-machine, when I used to watch his show "2000", in the early 1990's. He talked about the electric car and how Volvo has had one for many years etc. It was mostly about awesome technology that was just around the corner. So, I knew his style and enthusiasm before watching Living With Ed. His wife Rachelle, just makes it all the better. Her attitude is great. Not that it's positive, but representative of what many people I run into think. They are afraid that if you go GREEN, you're going to give up all conveniences and live in a yurt made of dung and wheat grass. That's just not the case. The show is great at giving you an intro of what tools are out there for you to use yourself to make your mark at a greener way of living. The book (I finally get to that) is very similar to the show. Even quotes directly from the show are in the book. I think that's great because this is like the companion handbook to the show. Plus more information. The seller of this book was awesome. My copy of the book was clean, pristine, and ummmm had E.B.J's signature inside the front cover! Super cool. P.S. if you haven't watched the show and are from the Seattle area, check out an Almost Live alum...Bill Nye. |

| Got this after I watched the show and I admit I was a little fearful that it would be a bit naggy and irksome. I'm glad I was disappointed because it's an entertaining book, full of very useful information, presented in a format that actually encourages the reader to make the small changes (the "low hanging fruit" as Begley calls it) in an effort to see almost immediate results. We all cannot go the electric car/solar panel route nor does he insist that we should. Each small change we make contributes as a whole to a better environment and getting that message out there is more important than hammering the negative. An added plus is the voice of his wife, Rachelle, inserted throughout because she's "one of us": An average mom and wife who wants to make the changes but also wants to strike a balance between what looks good and what does good. She, too, is inspiring, if only for her patience. A good primer on how to ease into making things a bit greener without going crazy |
Fun and informative.

| I really enjoyed this book. It was a very easy and entertaining read and informative at the same time. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in breaking into the green lifestyle or just to reinforce what you already may be doing to save energy and money. |

This books has a lot of serious information in it about sustainability, but delivers it in a very simple style. Unlike many course books and science entailed green eco books, this one gives very basic recycling methods and complex energy sustainability theory at the same pace.
This is a great book for anyone with a household who is reviewing ways to cut energy bills and recycle stuff. |
