Product Description

Pressure cooking uses pressurized steam to cook healthy meals with beans, grains, meat, poultry, and seafood in much less time than many other cooking methods require. The two pots in this set include a 4-quart size for quick-cooking sides of rice or spaghetti squash and a large 8-quart size for family dinners of pasta primavera or corn chowder. A universal lid fits both pots, locking in flavor and nutrients.

The cooker is constructed of high-quality 18/10 stainless steel with an encapsulated aluminum base for even and efficient heat distribution. For safety, the pressure cooker has dual pressure settings on its handle--one in a dial control and another on a valve. Other safety measures include two pressure release valves and a locking handle to prevent the unit from opening while under pressure. A visual indicator lets you know when all the pressure has been released and the cooker is ready to open.

For versatility, this pressure cooker set comes with a glass lid that turns the two pressure cooker bases into a regular saucepan and stockpot. The set also includes a stainless-steel steamer basket and a trivet to rest it on as well as an instruction manual and a recipe book. All components of this pressure cooker set are dishwasher-safe and carry a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Broken Handle In Packaging - Great Amazon Customer Service!

Review Date: August 3, 2010
Reviewer: M. Turner, Blythe, CA USA
I received my much awaited 5-piece pressure cooker set today! I was so excited to make my own hummus & falafel. I began the soaking process of the beans, yesterday, so that I would be ready to cook when UPS arrived with my package!

To my great dismay, I opened the 8-quart cooker box, which is boxed separately from the glass lid, and the 4-qt cooker, and found that the 8-qt black handle was broken. Three pieces of the handle, where it meets the steel, were in the bottom of the box.

Luckily, when I called Amazon, they told me that they would send me a new Fagor 5-pc Pressure Cooker set, to arrive in 2 days. The customer service rep also stated that I would receive a shipping label, at no cost to me, in my email, within 5 minutes. I could print the shipping label and send back the broken product, returning it within 30 days.

Great! I am so happy that this turned out well. Though, my family and I are greatly disappointed not to get to make hummus & falafel, tonight.

The handles are hollow, and seem not well made. Though, the steel is of high quality and the set is a great price. Notice, I have not handled any other pressure cooker to compare the strength/quality of the handles.

When I purchased this set for myself, I also purchased a set that Amazon sent to a friend.
I would buy this again for myself & intend to purchase a 3rd set for some friends.

I made a packaging suggestion where one has the online opportunity to do so with Amazon.

I hope that this helps you in your decision. Hence, my 4 stars.
I LOVE IT!

Reviewer: A. Audi,
I am very frustrated with the customer service I've been shown. I initially contacted Fagor in March 2010 regarding a problem with my pressure cooker which I had been using for 1 month. I was told that they would replace the handle. More than 3 months later I have nothing. No fixed handle, therefore no pressure cooker. At least someone could have had the courtesy to contact me and let me know that I would not be receiving anything. Instead, when I emailed to inquire as to when the handle would arrive, I was told "next week". It's very hard to believe that Fagor is unable to get a replacement handle. I could have ordered one off the website myself, but I trusted that the company would remedy the situation., as they promised Now I'm stuck because I spent quite a bit of money on a pressure cooker that I thought was high quality, and I've been left with a regular sauce pan for months. How long must this go on?
Steams grains with Glasslock from costco

I think this is the same product as the Fagor Rapida set sold by Costco. It works great, so I won't do a complete review. I want to share what I learned about using it to steam. After reading for hours on the web about pressure cooking grains and experimenting, I discovered that steaming is the most reliable and best tasting way to cook grains. However this requires an inner bowl to hold the grains above the water, and it's very difficult to find one that fits inside, holds a decent volume, and most importantly can be removed without burning your hands on the pressure cooker walls.

After looking high and low, I realized that I already had the perfect inner bowl for steaming: The 0.7L rectangular Glasslock brand storage container, sold as part of a larger set at Costco as well. I can actually place two of these on top of each other, inside the pasta steamer basket that comes with the Fagor Rapida, to pressure cook two different items at the same time.

Because of the rectangular shape, these Glasslock containers can be gripped on the sides with a potholder and lifted out without burning your fingers. Perfect!

After realizing that my sealing problems were caused by failure to follow the extremely poor directions included with the Fagor, I'm in pressure cooking heaven.
Excellent bang for buck

Reviewer: J. Wells,
I know squat about pressure cookers but hubby wanted one. However, he objected to the $250 price tag his friends paid.

This is killer. Short ribs in 30 minutes. 2 pot sizes with interchangeable lids (one glass & one pressure cooker). Has steamer basket (only fits larger pot).

GREAT gift for someone that is just going out on their own...HIGHLY recommend!

Can't quite understand why you'd buy the more expensive Fagor 5-in-one.
love it

Convenient 4-quart pot, solid make

I immediately fell in love with this set as soon as I opened the box. It is shining stainless steel, very thick and solid. I have used pressure cooker for 15 years. While my old aluminum one is wearing out and I broke another stainless steel one's handle, I have been looking for a new pressure cooker for 2 years. I have searched many local stores. Most are aluminum, some are hard anodized. They tend to wear out quickly. I was set to get a stainless steel one. Finally I bought this stainless steel set from [...]. Most pressure cookers are deep, good for stew and for cooking meat. This set comes with a 4-quart shallow pot which I could easily think of many things I could do with, like rice, stir fry, pancake,....... And it is easy to clean!

Today I cooked rice, it took only 8 minutes, Rice tastes much better than those made without using pressure cooker.

I would give it a 5 star, but the manual is a little confusing. if you haven't ever used pressure cooker before, it'll be hard for you to make certain what the signs on the safety valves exactly mean and when to use. Figure 8 and 9 are particularly confusing and IMO not accurate. I had to use some deduction, along with my past experience to eventually figure it out.

A Great Pressure Cooker Set

This is a great pressure cooker set. This set is different from the Fagor Duo set that comes with two pressure settings. We do not need different pressure settings, so the set is perfect for us. The 8-qt one is big enough for a family of four. The set is beautiful in 18/10 stainless steel. I love them. I have cooked several meals in it without any problem. I highly recommend this pressure cooker set.
It is made in China but what isn't anymore, not political, just a fact

Overall this product works well. I love the way the food tastes in a PC. Its healthier then the microwave. I have had some issues with it twice when cooling with water even though I only let the water run over one side, and not near the regulator, or the top of the pan. It was probably just too much cold water at once. I had no problem doing this with my old electric presto. The pressure rose so quick to the top sounded like a train with a roar, it expanded out the sides slightly burning my hands. No I didn't have it too full or foods in it that expanded. I now put a trivet in the sink and set it on that, before slowly turning on the water. I use it often using Miss Vickie's recipes. My biggest complaint would be that I find, with most steel from China it is just harder to clean, and it does scratch, I now use wooden spoons. I found this as well with other pans I recently purchased also. When I bought mine it said it was dishwasher safe, but in the manual it said hand wash the lid. I think I read somewhere its the same grade as an ss exhaust pipe on a car/truck. The outside is a pretty shiny polish although keep a dish towel between the lid & the pan to keep it from scratching. My old stainless steel pans of 25 years did not dull or discolor with rainbow colors. Why do these? I don't want to have to use baking soda or anything else to clean it as others have suggested. That defeats the purpose of a quick meal. If it were in my budget I would have purchased Kuhn Rikon only if, it was not made in China. Having the extra small pan is convenient for smaller amounts of food. The extra deep insert is nice feature also. I use the insert when blanching vegetables, its makes it easy to lift all vegs out at once. Its a little hard to tell when the pressure is high enough or regulate on a electric stove. The pop-up button is when to start the timer, even though no steam is coming out of the valve and thats when you turn the temp down. I wish they would make a Stainless Steel electric PC like the old presto's.
Pressure Cooker Excellence

My wife and I have never used a pressure cooker before, but finally tired of spending 45 minutes cooking risotto. Based upon reviews, such as in Cooks Illustrated, we decided to purchase the Fagor cookers. We are not disappointed. The pans are well constructed; the instructions are clear; the use of the pressure cooker certainly does risotto, but also so much more. This set is a very good value for money, and I strongly recommend it for someone who wants to shorten cooking times significantly and retain food taste and nutrition.
