It bio-degrades while you watch

I've had the 1400-7 model about 6 months. Used it a few times in my car. The size seemed great for that. It's probably been used 6 times. I tried to use it today, but it wouldn't spray. Couldn't find anything on the internet relative to a spray problem, and since I figured it was "out of warranty", I thought I'd investigate myself. (it's held together with about a 1/2 dozen philips screws. Bottom line, the spray motor had leaked where it couples to the delivery hose fitting(s), which had completely rusted the bottom of the motor causing failure. Seems to be a quickly disposable unit to me. (The manufacturer seems to relish in the fact it's made of bio-degradable materials - apparently they bio-degrade while you watch). Considering what I paid for it, I guess the average cost of ownership is about $12 per use. That seems a little steep to me, I wouldn't recommend it at all.

This was great. Cleaned everything inside a RV. All carpets and furniture came out clean. Nice and portable. Will purchase another if this one ever breaks down.
Like an Eraser

I bought it specifically for my cat's hairball stains. I filled the solution and water mixture over a month ago and still haven't had to refill it after many, many cat mishaps. It cleans the stains very well and dry time is not too long. The only thing I can foresee is, over a long period of time, the part for the water suction on the end of the hose (next to the brush) could possibly get dirt trapped in it. Though I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a pain to clean it out. The weight of it is very light so it's easy to carry up the stairs. Love it so far!

I tried getting a pet stain out of the carpet unsuccessfully with several rounds of Resolve treatment, and decided to buy this Bissell to try to get the stain out (it was in a very prominent location on the carpet). I was very happy with the results! The stain came out right away, and the machine was easy to use. I've used it on several spots since, also with good results. I like that i can store it 'ready to use'. I have a full-sized carpet cleaner, but it's just too much of a hassle to get out for every small stain. I have 2 cats and a foster dog, so i frequently have small stains that need to be cleaned. This is perfect for those situations!
Ok, But Could be Much Better

We purchased this machine mainly for cleaning up pet stains, etc. Prior to this we were using our large shopvac. I find the Little Green more convenient, however it does not have the suction that the shopvac does and I really don't think it works as well.
The spray comes out at a wide angle and I find this annoying, since it is usually much wider than the area being worked on.
Finally, I wonder how well the cleaning fluid works, since we usually only use a small amount and then the rest sits in the unit until the next time, so it is always at room temperature. I know there is a new version with a heater, but personally I don't think this would change my review much.
Overall it's an ok machine, but I prefer the shopvac except for the fact that it is much larger and less convenient. |
Very Good Machine

This is my second Green Machine. The first one lasted more than ten years and did upholstery and car seats. We have a new puppy so the Green Machine is a must for the first few months. I bought my daughter one too and she loves it. It is not a professional cleaner but it does what it's supposed to do, SPOT CLEANING. Don't waste your money on the Spot Bot or the heated water model. Waste of money. Most spots come clean in a minute or two, having the machine sit in one spot scrubbing is a waste of time.
Great Purchase!

I bought this machine in Feb. 2010 to use in my home for pet clean up. I love it and wish I had bought one 5 yr. ago. With pets it is a must! I put some of the deluded solution in a Spray Bottle and fill the Bissell Clean tank with only water. Spray the spot(s) first, wait about 5 minutes, use the brush, then use the Bissell Cleaner. This cleans the spot(s) well and you are not wasting the solution as the spray area is wide. You are only using water to finish the cleaning. I rinse the dirty collection tank after each use.
Nice little unit but be careful of the waste tank bottom seal

I bought this just a couple of days ago and had the opportunity to finally use it courtesy of one of our dogs.
I used the Bissell brand pet cleaning solution and it worked really well. It was quite easy to use, the suction is very good. I first sprayed the area where our dog had uriniated then after a few minutes I vacuumed up the liguids. I kept going for quite a bit until I could no longer see fluids moving through the transparent head. While the carpet was still slightly damp, I could detect no urine odor which has not been the case with other products I have tried to use. So far so good.
The real problem occurred when I attempted to clean the waste water tank. The unit removes easily enough and the way it is shaped forms a nice little handle with a spout on top to empty the contents. I dumped the tank outside and then decided to go back inside and run some clean water in the tank intending to wash it out and dump it outside again. That is when it happened. As I was walking toward my front door from the sink with the half full tank the bottom seal unexpectedly fell out and dumped the entire contents of dirty water on my carpet. What a mess! The manual says nothing about this and in fact doesnt really say much other than to dump the tank, not very helpful.
My only other complaint, and for me it is not a huge issue, is that the spray pattern is extremely wide. I guess if you were cleaning a large area this would be a good thing but for me I have a bigger steam cleaning unit for bigger areas and intend to use this only for small spot cleanups. Like I say it is not a huge issue but it does end up getting a larger area wet than is needed even if you hold the nozzle close to the floor. Others may consider this an advantage.
Otherwise this unit works really well, has strong suction, not extremely noisy and is very easy to use, pack up and put away.
Were it not for the issue with the bottom plug on the waste tank I would have rated this higher but I feel at a minimum they should warn people about this problem.

Works Pretty Well

This product works pretty well. Had a bit of a problem with a greasy mark from asphalt--had to go over it several times. Actually, Wool Lite Oxy would have worked better for that. It works great for spot cleaning--though I wouldn't attempt to use it on an entire rug. I have decided to keep it.
