Beware of incorrect product description! I purchased 2 of these mattress pads a few months ago because I was looking to find a 100% cotton mattress pad, which are hard to find. I was very glad that this was supposed to be an organic product. When I received the package and read the labeling I saw that the product was not as described on Amazon.com. The cotton that covers both sides of the pad is labeled as organic, but the fill is specifically NOT labeled organic. Rather, the fill is labeled as "natural" cotton, NOT organic cotton. When you actually receive the mattress pad and read the label, there is a definite distinction between those parts of the product that are organic from those that are not. I have contacted Amazon about this. Other people contacted them 5 months ago now and still it is not changed! Some people have complained about staining coming through the pad after it gets wet from washing. I would not "worry" about this as it is most likely due to the natural, minimally processed nature of the fill. Us modernized folks are so used to seeing those fluffy white cotton balls in the grocery store-nothing what cotton really looks like on the plant. The staining probably comes from the bits of stems and other plant material that is mingled in with the cotton fluff. They definitely seem to be made well and I think as they look after washing and drying that they will hold up quite some time.

Although the mattress pad is nice looking & feels comfortable, it was impossible to put on the bed. The sides are made out of muslin type cotton fabric that does not stretch at all. I had to cut the corners to get it on the bed. In addition, I noticed a few brown spots after I washed it the first time and now many more brown spots are just appearing.
Perfectly good choice!

I bought two twin sized mattress pads. I was concerned at first about the thickness, but they fluffed up after washing and offer a nice padding to a non pillow top mattress. I also liked how there was no chemical or plastic smell right out of the package. When they are wet you can see the brownish specks, but they go away after drying. I particularly like how snug they are around the mattress and the reasonable price gets them 5 stars.
Newpoint Organic Cotton Queen Mattress Pad with Organic Cotton Fiber Fill

I returned this Mattress pad. I bought it only for being all organic (according to Amazon description), but when I received the product, the label indicated that it was Organic cover filled with Natural Cotton. Natural does not mean anything and it is a very misleading word that it is used to deceive consumers. Amazon was very good in return and crediting my account.
What's with the brown spots?

As in previous posts, we have also been getting the brown spots on our pad, which appeared after the first washing and has just gotten worse while just sitting on the bed. Otherwise, it's fine.
Brown Spots

At first the mattress pad was fine, but then we washed it. Brown stains appeared inside the pad after the first washings and nothing will get them out. We called and emailed the importer twice and they ignored us. They are not interested in servicing or backing up their products. If you buy this and it happens to you, you will be stuck with it. Besides looking bad under the sheets, we won't use it because we don't know what is causing the staining.

I was quite pleasantly surprised to find this high-quality, wonderfully comfortable, ORGANIC cotton product for such a reasonable price. When I decided to take the organic route for this purchase, I unnecessarily braced for myself for the sticker-shock I thought was forthcoming. Thank you to Amazon for offering organic products at such a value! The product description did not have as copious information about the sustainability of the product's construction or the conditions under which the laborers manufactured it, but at least I could support the organic cotton industry!
great, but not what I ordered

I bought this specifically because it was labeled organic, but when it arrived, the label describes it as "organic cotton w/natural fill" - not organic fill, as was advertised. I needed a new mattress pad, so didn't bother with the hassle of returning it - but it's NOT what is advertised.
Half of the product description is incorrect.

I bought this product after reading the description. It states that "Organic Cotton Full Mattress Pad with Organic Cotton Fiber Fill". Unfortunately half of this description is correct. When I received the product, the label on the bag indicated that the cover is Organic cotton but the fill is "Natural Cotton". "Natural cotton" does not mean Organic and you need to be aware of that a lot of natural products are grown with pesticides and synthetic fertilizers like the conventional vegetables and fruits. "Natural" is a subjective word and can mean different things to different people. But NO one can claim that the "Natural" means "Organic". If you are looking for an Organic product you may skip this. Returned this product to Amazon and urged them to correct the description but apparently no one cared so far...
I gave two stars for the organic cover. |
NOT 100% ORGANIC

Be aware that although the product description says the fiber fill is organic, it is not. The package states it is "natural" cotton fill, which is the classic word for companies trying to sound like something is organic when it's not. I feel this is really false advertsing and wouldn't have bought it if I'd known. It's not a bad mattress pad, but pretty expensive for something that is only partly organic. I'm also not sure if this has been treated with flame retardant or not.
